Ninghua County Soil and Water Conservation Science Education Demonstration Park

The Ninghua Shibi Hakka Ancestral Land Cultural Zone is located at Shibi Village, Shibi Town, 15 kilometers west of Ninghua County in Fujian Province, on the eastern foothills of the Wuyi Mountains at the border between Fujian and Jiangxi. “The Great Locust Tree is in the north, and Shibi Village is in the south.” Shibi is the cradle of the Hakka people and their ancestral land. The Ninghua Shibi Hakka Ancestral Hall is the grand ancestral temple of all Hakka people worldwide. The ancestral hall is built in the style of an ancient palace, featuring upturned eaves, bracket sets, carved beams, and painted rafters, presenting a majestic and spectacular presence. Facilities now constructed include a parking lot, reception station, management building, corridor, memorial archway, Hakka Path, stele pavilion, merit stele, Yuping Hall, stele forest, cultural museum pavilion, and Haixia Temple.

Water Conservancy Hub Area. The Shinan Pit Reservoir was built in 1959. It has a total storage capacity of 286,000 cubic meters and controls a catchment area of 0.9 square kilometers. It is a comprehensive water conservancy hub project integrating flood control, irrigation, water supply, leisure, sightseeing, tourism, and science education. Walking through the covered bridge, you’ll see rippling lake waters, mountains reflected on the water, and mist lingering in the air — as if entering a fairyland, offering a uniquely serene experience. The dam stands majestically, while the covered bridge is both beautiful and grand, with an elegant design. Spanning the landscape like a dragon lying across the waves, this area enjoys a mild climate with distinct seasons. Whether strolling along the covered bridge in the drizzle of early spring, under the blazing sun of midsummer, in the morning glow of autumn, or amid the white mist of deep winter, or enjoying fishing beneath the dam, one can’t help but feel refreshed and reluctant to leave. Together, they form a uniquely beautiful scenic attraction. The Shibi Town flood control embankment, covering the “Shibi, Xiaowu, and Yangbian sections,” stretches 10.7 kilometers in total. Like a winding dragon lying on the land, it symbolizes the long and profound heritage of Hakka culture.
