Former Site of the Red Army Hospital in Ninghua County

The Former Site of the Red Army Hospital in Ninghua County is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

After the establishment of the Soviet Government in Ninghua County, great importance was attached to the development of healthcare. In September 1933, the Central Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a directive for the establishment of Red Army rear hospitals or branch hospitals in various districts. In Ninghua, local traditional healers and practitioners were organized and trained over a period of time to treat sick and injured Red Army soldiers who had been transferred from the front lines, while also frequently providing medical care to local residents. At the time, conditions in all the hospitals were very poor, typically with only 3–5 doctors and a dozen or so nurses responsible for treating hundreds of wounded and ill soldiers. Due to enemy blockades, medical supplies were extremely scarce, so treatment mainly relied on traditional Chinese herbal medicine. In total, more than 20 Red Army rear hospitals were established in Ninghua, including those located at the Xie Family Ancestral Hall in Chengguan, the Qiu Family Ancestral Hall at Shixia in Hucun, the Ding Family Ancestral Hall in Fangtian, as well as in Quanshang, Hekou, Anyuan, and other areas.
