The Xie Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiaoxi

The Xie Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiaoxi is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Xie Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiaoxi is located in Xiaoxi Village, Cuijiang Town, Ninghua County, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Built during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1662–1722), it faces northeast and is situated southwest, consisting of a front courtyard, gate tower, lower hall, corridors, main hall, rear hall, embryo mound, and the auxiliary Gongtang Hall on the right, covering an area of 1,061 square meters. The main hall is five bays wide and six pillars deep, with a post-and-lintel and through-tenon style timber frame and a flush gable roof. The auxiliary Gongtang Hall consists of a main gate, corridors, and a main hall; the main hall is three bays wide and five pillars deep, featuring a through-tenon style timber frame and a flush gable roof. From September 1933 to September 1934, the Soviet Provisional Government established a Red Army hospital here, and some medical facilities from that time are still preserved.

In 2013, the Xie Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiaoxi was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: A 5-meter buffer zone extends outward from all sides of the ancestral hall.

Xiaoxi Village: Located in the western part of Ninghua County, Xiaoxi Village was known as Xiaoxi Township, Chengguan Commune, Ninghua County from 1950 to 1954. Before the reform and opening-up period, it was renamed Xiaoxi Brigade, and afterward became Xiaoxi Village under Cuijiang Town, Ninghua County. The village covers an area of 9.7 square kilometers, with 2,105 mu of arable land and 11,854 mu of mountainous land. It currently has 11 villager groups, 443 households, and a population of 2,329 (90% of whom live in the urban area; there is also a natural village called Shanlingxia, home to 8% of the village’s population).
