The Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery at Shixia is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery at Shixia is located in Shixia Village (the town center) of Hucun Town, Ninghua County.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Hucun area established county-, district-, and township-level Soviet governments and party-mass organizations. Red Army troops were frequently stationed here or passed through during military operations. There were also several Red Army hospitals and munitions factories. Many Red Army soldiers, guerrillas, and Soviet officials sacrificed their lives in the battles to establish and defend the fledgling red regime, as well as to protect the Red Army hospitals and munitions factories.

To commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, preserve revolutionary history, and promote revolutionary traditions, the People's Government of Hucun Town gathered the remains of Red Army soldiers, guerrillas, and Soviet officials that were buried in multiple locations and reinterred them at this site. The Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery was completed in April 1999. Since its establishment, the cemetery has become an important place for later generations to mourn the revolutionary heroes and to carry out patriotic education.

The Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery at Shixia features a cement base with ceramic tile facing, faces south, and stands approximately 8 meters high, covering an area of about 500 square meters. It consists of a front pathway, a front plaza, a central platform, high steps on both sides, the main tomb structure, a tombstone, and stone railings. The platform is enclosed by railings, with 19 steps on each side. The front base is inscribed in horizontal relief with granite, providing a brief introduction to the activities of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army in Ninghua. The central part of the tombstone is engraved vertically in intaglio with the words “Tomb of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army.” The overall structure is well preserved.

Shixia Village: Shixia Village is the seat of the town government. It comprises 8 villager groups, with 278 households and a population of 1,291. The village has 1,839 mu of arable land and 16,800 mu of forestland. The main crops grown include rice, tobacco, sweet potatoes, vegetables, pseudostellaria heterophylla, and honeysuckle. In 2012, the village produced 400,000 jin of sweet potato starch, generating a value of 1.28 million yuan; 30,000 jin of tobacco, valued at 320,000 yuan; and 1,000 jin of honeysuckle, worth 200,000 yuan.
