Zhiping Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument

The Zhiping Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located on Mabei Lingdong in Zhiping Village, Zhiping Township, Ninghua County.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Zhiping area established district and township Soviet governments as well as party and mass organizations, with frequent activities by the Red Army and guerrilla forces. Many Red Army soldiers, guerrillas, and Soviet cadres sacrificed their lives in the battles to establish and defend the fledgling red political power.

To commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, inherit the revolutionary history, and carry forward the revolutionary tradition, the People's Government of Zhiping Township completed the construction of the Zhiping Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument in March 1967. Since its completion, local schools organize students to pay tribute at the monument every Tomb-Sweeping Day. It has become an important site for local residents to mourn the revolutionary heroes and receive patriotic education.

The Zhiping Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is a brick-concrete structure facing east-northeast, with a height of 2.76 meters. The main body has a total width of 5.6 meters and depth of 4.7 meters, covering an area of 26.7 square meters. It consists of a base, main body, top, four-tiered platform, and 37 steps. The base measures 1.2 meters long, 1 meter wide, and 0.44 meters high. A five-pointed star is placed atop the monument, while the front of the main body features eight gilded Chinese characters in Song typeface reading “Eternal Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs.” The back bears a 68-character quotation from Chairman Mao and the date of the monument’s establishment. The local government maintains the monument regularly, and the overall structure remains well-preserved.
