Former Site of the Wuceng District Committee of the CPC and the Wuceng District Soviet Government

The Yu Ancestral Hall, which served as the former site of the Wuceng District Committee of the CPC and the Wuceng District Soviet Government, is located about 500 meters west of Wuceng Village in Jicun Township, Ninghua County.

After the victory of the Third Counter-Encirclement Campaign in the Central Soviet Area, Ninghua became an important part of the Central Soviet Area. In order to strengthen the Party’s unified leadership over the Ninghua Soviet Area, in November 1931, the Ninghua County Committee of the CPC and the Ninghua County Soviet Government were established at the Liu Family Ancestral Hall in Huaiyang Township (now Huaiyang Village, Huaitu Township), marking the full development period of the Ninghua Soviet Area.

In January 1932, the Wuceng District was established, overseeing eight townships: Wuyi, Shangshe, Huangjing, Chenjia, Chahu’gang, Xiaojia, Xintian, and Wuceng. The Wuceng District Committee of the CPC and the Wuceng District Soviet Government were also formed. Four individuals, including Xiao Jiuyong, successively served as district committee secretaries, and four others, including Li Ronggen, served as chairpersons of the district Soviet government. Departments such as the Internal Affairs Department, Finance Department, Grain Department, Land Department, Labor Department, Education Department, Military Department, Judiciary Department, Workers and Peasants Inspection Department, and Poor Peasants' Group were set up, operating from the Yu Ancestral Hall in Wuceng.

After the establishment of the Wuceng District Committee of the CPC and the Wuceng District Soviet Government, a vigorous land revolution movement was launched. The organizations mobilized the masses to struggle against local tyrants, distribute land, develop the economy, join the military, participate in battles, and support the front lines, making significant contributions to the expansion and consolidation of the Ninghua Soviet Area. In December 1934, the Ninghua Soviet Area fell.

The Yu Ancestral Hall, which served as the former site of the Wuceng District Committee of the CPC and the Wuceng District Soviet Government, covers an area of 261 square meters. It faces south with a slight western orientation, featuring a suspended roof with post-and-lintel and mortise-and-tenon style brick-and-wood construction. The overall structure has suffered severe damage but has undergone several restorations, with red bricks used to rebuild the gables on both sides.

Jicun Township: Jicun Township is a provincially designated poverty-stricken old revolutionary base township, located in the northwest of Ninghua County, 17 kilometers from the county seat.
