The Former Residence of Mao Zedong in Sanming is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former residence of Mao Zedong is also called the "Red Army Building" and is divided into the former residence of Comrade Mao Zedong and the Jianning County Revolutionary Struggle History Exhibition Hall. This is a German-style building, which has been open to the public since 1969. The residence includes two floors (upstairs and downstairs) and a meeting room. The first room on the right downstairs was the communication office of the General Headquarters of the First Front Army of the Red Army; the second room was the adjutant’s office of the General Headquarters of the First Front Army. The first room on the left was the operations room of the General Headquarters of the First Front Army; the second room was the living quarters of the Commander-in-Chief. On the second floor, the first room on the right was the staff office of the General Headquarters of the First Front Army; opposite it was a simple and unadorned small room, which was the bedroom of Comrade Mao Zedong. The first room on the left was the guard’s quarters of the First Front Army; opposite it was the secretariat office of the First Front Army.
