The Jianning County Revolutionary Memorial Hall is a Fujian Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

To commemorate the great achievements of revolutionary martyrs and to provide patriotic and revolutionary tradition education to the public and especially to the youth, in July 1959, Jianning County established the Jianning County Revolutionary Memorial Hall based on the site of the former headquarters and general front committee of the First Red Army (the former residences of Comrade Mao Zedong and others). In 1977, the National Cultural Relics Administration allocated funds to restore the former site of the General Political Department of the First Red Army (the former residence of Comrade ...). In 1991, the Jianning County Museum was established and co-located with the memorial hall.

In October 1985, the former sites under the management of the memorial hall — the former headquarters and general front committee of the First Red Army and the former General Political Department of the First Red Army — were designated as provincial-level cultural relics protection units by the Fujian Provincial People's Government. In 1995, the memorial hall was respectively designated as a Provincial Youth Revolutionary Tradition Education Base by the Provincial Youth League Committee and a Municipal Patriotic Education Base by the Sanming Municipal Party Committee. In June 1997, it was designated as a Provincial Patriotic Education Base. In July 2002, it was designated as a Provincial Young Pioneers Eaglet Training Base by the Fujian Provincial Youth League Committee and the Fujian Provincial Working Committee of the Young Pioneers. The Jianning County Revolutionary Memorial Hall is a third-grade qualified memorial hall, covering a total area of 28,700 square meters. It currently includes two restored displays — the former headquarters and general front committee of the First Red Army (the former residences of Comrade Mao Zedong and others) and the former General Political Department of the First Red Army (the former residence of Comrade ...) — as well as three thematic exhibition halls: "The History of Jianning’s Revolutionary Struggles," "Historical Relics of Jianning," and "The Life of Comrade ...", all of which are open to the public year-round.

Former Site of the Headquarters and General Front Committee of the First Red Army: Located within the Jianning County Revolutionary Memorial Hall, it was originally a Catholic church designed and built in 1926 by German missionaries. The site covers a total area of about 500 square meters, with a two-story building at the front and a prayer hall at the rear. On May 31, 1931, Comrade Mao Zedong and others led the First Front Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army to liberate Jianning, annihilating over 7,000 troops of the Liu Heding Division, securing a major victory in the final battle of the Second Counter-“Encirclement and Suppression” Campaign. Former Site of the General Political Department of the First Red Army: Located inside the County Lotus Hotel, also known as the “Little White Building,” it is a two-story wooden structure with white walls and covered corridors. During this period, Comrades ... and ... commanded Red Army operations in Jianning, rapidly developing the Jianning-Tai-Li Soviet Area, leading the masses in deepening land reform and economic development, and making significant contributions to consolidating and expanding the Soviet Area.

The first floor of the current site houses the thematic display "The Life of Comrade ...," while the second floor features a restored display of Comrade ...'s living quarters, along with some physical objects, documents, and photographs. Jianning Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall: Covering an area of 800 square meters, it opened on October 1, 1984, and consists of eight exhibition rooms. The exhibits include: 1. The establishment of the Jianning Revolutionary Base; 2. Construction of the Jianning Soviet Area; 3. The damage caused by “Left” adventurism and the loss of the Jianning Soviet Area; 4. A monument in history. The entire exhibition systematically reflects the establishment and development of the Jianning Soviet Area, as well as the history of the Jianning people’s continued struggle after the strategic shift of the Red Army. The hall displays nearly 400 items including photos, documents, and artifacts.
