The local people of Lotus Township have effectively protected the ecological environment of the artificial lake area, making the lake and its surrounding landscape even more picturesque, charming, and magnificent. Thanks to the improved ecological conditions, the fishery industry in the lake area has also developed rapidly. The appearance of Huangling Village in Jun Kou Town, where the lake is located, has undergone great changes, and it has been designated as an environmental protection demonstration site in Sanming City.

The beautiful scenery of the artificial lake has not only become an ideal place for tourism and leisure but has also attracted numerous birds, making it a paradise for avian life. Every year when the autumn wind blows, hundreds of pairs of mandarin ducks fly in from all directions to spend the winter, staying until shortly after the Qingming Festival the following year before reluctantly departing. The arrival of many mandarin ducks has given the artificial lake its name — Mandarin Duck Lake.
