Mount Jinglu (Minjiang River Source Scenic Area) is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national nature reserve.

Stay in the highest-altitude log cabin in Fujian, where you can watch the sunrise and sea of clouds in the early morning; take the longest high-altitude cable car in Fujian, traverse four mountains, and marvel at the beauty of endless peaks competing in verdancy; stroll along forest paths covered with fallen leaves and moss, and encounter the male and female waterfall area rich in negative oxygen ions; walk along the “belt” of the highest peak in Fujian, experiencing the sensation of dancing above the clouds... As early as thousands of years ago, this was a favored hunting and leisure destination for the “founding ancestor of Fujian,” King Wuzhu of the Minyue Kingdom. After ascending Mount Jinglu, the Ming Dynasty geographer Xu Xiake was deeply impressed by the scenery here, praising it: “The splendors of Wuyi Mountain are the best under heaven, but the view from Mount Jinglu is the finest in the southeast.” The Minjiang River Source Ecotourism Area boasts a complex and diverse ecosystem, where you can observe rare natural ecological landscapes such as wild communities of yew, Chinese fir, Bretschneidera sinensis, and Camellia chekiangoleosa, as well as marvel at natural wonders including Jinglu Clear Snow, sea of clouds, the spectacular Stone Forest, alpine meadows, azalea seas, Eagle Beak Rock, Shengzhu Temple, Ancient Schoolhouse, and Dragon King Rock.

Within the reserve, besides the pristine natural landscapes, there are also handcrafted wooden plank bridges and small cabins that offer a unique ambiance. Not far away, you can hear the murmuring sound of flowing water—it leads to the waterfall area. It is said that the air in this area contains up to 100,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter, making every breath fresh and invigorating. The male and female waterfalls each have their distinct charm: the Dajimian Waterfall has abundant water flow, with thunderous roars that can be heard miles away, spraying misty foam that drifts over a hundred meters, making the waterfall appear as if a galaxy of stars is pouring from the sky, hence the phrase “starlit pearls cascading from the heavens”; the Thousand-Layer Cliff Waterfall, when viewed from afar, resembles a pure white silk ribbon draped across a several-hundred-meter-high cliff, descending from the sky and transporting visitors into a fairyland.

In addition, the Jianning Minjiang River Source Nature Reserve is an important part of the mid-subtropical forest ecosystem reserve within the Wuyi Mountain Range, serving as an excellent habitat for rare wildlife. It is home to 36 species of nationally protected plants and 17 species of nationally protected animals. Establishing the Minjiang River Source Provincial Nature Reserve plays a significant role in conserving the Minjiang River’s water sources and protecting biodiversity.
