Gaofeng Village is located at the foot of Mount Jinrao in the eastern part of Suixi Town, Jianning County, adjacent to the Great Golden Lake in Taining to the east, and about 10 kilometers from the county seat. The village has a total of 179 households and a population of 805. Blessed with a uniquely advantageous geographical location, it lies at the foot of Mount Jinrao and by the fragrant Xiangxi Stream, with floral scents filling the valley. The beauty of Gaofeng lies in the lush greenery of its forests, the crystal-clear streams, the vibrant blooms, and the simplicity and kindness of its people. As part of the ancient land of China, with millennia-old paths running through it, Gaofeng boasts a long and storied history. The ancient trails that originate from the village traverse Mount Jinrao and served as a historical post road connecting Jianning with Taining, Shunchang, Fuzhou, and other regions in ancient times. In the past, Jianning was known as a “distribution hub for Fujian salt and Jiangxi rice,” bustling with merchants and thriving in commerce. The winding post roads, paved with flagstones and nestled between mountains and waterways, crisscross the landscape.

Rich and diverse ecological resources. “The splendors of Wuyi surpass all under heaven, but the southeast’s finest view lies on Mount Jinrao”—this is how Xu Xiake described Mount Jinrao. “Floating in mineral water, swimming among stone eggs”—this is how visitors describe the rafting experience in Gaofeng. From June to October each year is both the peak rafting season and the flowering season. The high-altitude streams rush passionately down, while naturally formed stone eggs dot the landscape. The meticulously cultivated sea of flowers bursts with vibrant colors. Even in the cold winter months, Gaofeng remains blooming with flowers, picturesque and poetic. The mountain valleys are tranquil, where the murmuring streams and cheerful birdsong are especially enchanting. The dense streams seem like affectionate couples whispering sweet nothings to one another, or mischievous children playing joyfully. Ancient yew trees and vast groves of Bretschneidera sinensis thrive here, along with countless rare plants and animals.

Kind and simple folk customs. Farmers enjoy the farming pleasures of “rising with the dawn to tend the fields, and returning with the moon on their shoulders.” During festive occasions, it is customary to make glutinous rice cakes and brew mountain tea.

When you visit Gaofeng Village, you can start from the lower rafting dock of Gaofeng Rafting, wade through the clear river, and immerse yourself in the pastoral sea of flowers, then head to the Auspicious Square to experience the local culture and customs. Stroll along the Auspicious Path, admire the playful fish in the pond (Gaofeng Rafting Lower Dock → Pastoral Flower Sea → Flower Field Observation Deck → Small Arch Bridge → Auspicious Square → Gaofeng Rafting Lower Dock) or (Auspicious Square → Small Arch Bridge → Pastoral Flower Sea → Flower Field Observation Deck → Gaofeng Rafting Lower Dock → Auspicious Square). If you have more time, you must not miss the lush bamboo forest and the scattered stone egg formations. Starting from the Auspicious Square, follow the Bamboo Grove Path, marvel at the wonders of the stone eggs, breathe in the fresh air, listen to the murmurs of the stream, and arrive at the upper rafting dock of Gaofeng Rafting to experience the “mineral-water drift among the stone eggs.” Alternatively, take a walk along a rural path, visit local homes, and feel the warmth and simplicity of the villagers (Gaofeng Rafting Lower Dock → Pastoral Flower Sea → Flower Field Observation Deck → Small Arch Bridge → Auspicious Square → Bamboo Grove → Stone Egg Group → Gaofeng Rafting Upper Dock → Rural Path → Riverside Fitness Trail → Gaofeng Rafting Lower Dock).
