The Site of the Hua’dunqiao Lenin Primary School is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Hua’dunqiao Lenin Primary School is located at No. 36, Hua’dunqiao Street, Xikou Community, Xikou Town, Jianning County.

After the First Red Army captured Jianning County for the second time during the Jian-Li-Tai Campaign on October 18, 1932, it established Soviet governments at the county, district, township, and village levels. The Jianning Soviet Area was restored and consolidated, entering a relatively stable period. Necessary and feasible economic, cultural, educational, and health initiatives were carried out. Lenin Primary Schools were widely set up at the district, township, and village levels to teach children of Soviet-area residents new knowledge, promote social and cultural education, eliminate illiteracy, and engage in cultural, artistic, and sports activities, as well as review educational materials.

The educational policy of the Lenin Primary Schools was to serve the revolutionary war and the construction of the Soviet government. Emphasis was placed on providing students not only with scientific and cultural knowledge but also with class consciousness and communist ideology. The first lesson in the Lenin Primary School language class was “The Bodhisattva Is Ineffective,” and the first song taught was “Send Your Husband to Join the Red Army.” Schools frequently organized students to participate in various social activities, such as forming propaganda teams to go into the streets to promote the elimination of superstition, ban gambling, and publicize the Red Army’s victories and the Party’s central tasks. Social service teams were also organized to help the families of soldiers and martyrs with chores, assist the government and the Red Army in delivering messages, participate in sentry duty, and join in activities to support the Red Army—all aimed at ensuring that education served the revolutionary cause. The Hua’dunqiao Lenin Primary School was a township-run school under the Xikou Township of the Urban District.

The Site of the Hua’dunqiao Lenin Primary School was originally built in the late 19th century as a two-story wooden residential building, facing south, with a width of 8.7 meters and a depth of 12.5 meters, covering an area of 108 square meters. It was demolished in 2011.
