The Site of Mao Zedong’s Rest Stop is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of Mao Zedong’s Rest Stop at Baizhang Pass is located at the mountain pass between Shangshanshi Natural Village in Shanshi Village, Xikou Town, Jianning County, and Nanfeng County, Jiangxi Province. The area north of the pass belongs to Nanfeng County, Jiangxi, while the area south belongs to Jianning County, Fujian.

In the summer of 1931, during the time when the First Front Red Army headquarters was stationed in Jianning, Mao Zedong traveled from Jianning to Kangdu in Nanfeng County, Jiangxi, to preside over a meeting of the General Front Committee. On his round trips, he stopped to rest briefly at this post station.

The Site of Mao Zedong’s Rest Stop at Baizhang Pass was originally a Qing Dynasty post station, facing south and built with a stone-and-timber structure. It consists of two identical stone arches covered with a corridor-style roof, covering an area of 33.75 square meters. The wooden corridor in the center of the post station has been destroyed, and the main gate is severely damaged. The ancient post road was ruined during the 2007 ice and snow disaster.
