The former site of the Red Army Hospital is located on the north side of No. 8 Dunhou’nao, Shuiwei Village, Kefang Township, Jianning County. The Red Army Hospital was established in May 1934 after the fall of Jianning County to the enemy. It was set up by the Second Combat Division of the Min-Gan Military District in Shuiwei, Kefang, to treat wounded Red Army soldiers. It played an important role in supporting the Red Army, the CPC Jianning County Committee, the County Soviet Government, and the Min-Gan Guerrilla Units as they continued their struggle in areas such as Kefang in the southwest and northwest of Jianning. At that time, the hospital had very poor medical facilities and often suffered from shortages of doctors and medicine. Medical staff at the Red Army Hospital gathered herbs themselves, made their own medical instruments, and used captured supplies from the enemy, applying both traditional Chinese and Western methods to treat the wounded and sick.
