The Site of the Wuzhenling Battle of Resistance is a classic red tourism destination.

The Site of the Wuzhenling Battle of Resistance is located on the hillside behind Hongxing Natural Village, Qicun Village, Suixi Town, to the east of Jianning County, north of Xueshan Peak.

During the Fifth Counter-Encirclement Campaign of the Central Soviet Area, the Red Army held their position at Wuzhenling to block the Nationalist Army’s eastward assault on Jianning County, forming a crucial eastern defensive line in the defense of the county. After the Battle of Guangchang, the 19th Division of the Red 7th Army Corps and students from the Gonglue Infantry School were ordered to return to reinforce Jianning and defend Wuzhenling. They constructed fortifications in areas such as Heda’ao, Zhaxiajikeng, Duanzhai’ao, and Xiangshan, holding their ground with the advantage of terrain.

After the battle at Xueshan Peak on May 10, the 10th Division of the Nationalist Army under Tang Enbo held their positions along the front from Maodian to Yuanzhuang, confronting the Red Army on Xueshan Peak. The Nationalist Army’s 88th Division, 89th Division, and 30th Brigade of the 4th Division prepared to attack Wuzhenling. At 6 a.m. on May 13, Nationalist forces advanced from Maodian and Yuanzhuang toward Wuzhenling and arrived at the forward positions by 7 a.m. They bombarded the Red Army’s positions with artillery, forcing the Red Army to retreat to the high ground at the back of the hill. The Nationalist Army continued its offensive against the Red-held heights, subjecting them to continuous shelling from mountain guns and aerial bombings. By noon, the Red Army withdrew from their positions, and the right-wing high ground of Wuzhenling fell entirely into enemy hands. Meanwhile, the 527th Regiment of the Nationalist Army launched an attack from the central sector. After five or six rounds of fierce fighting, the Red Army retreated toward the valley, and the high ground of Wuzhenling was completely occupied by the enemy.
