Geshi Ka Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national-level forest park.

A national AAAA-level tourist attraction and one of the main scenic areas of Sanyuan National Forest Park. Covering an area of 14,100 mu, it has a total timber reserve of 210,000 cubic meters, over 80% of which consists of Geshi Ka trees, making it the world’s largest natural ka tree forest. Over 100 years ago, British botanist Grimley discovered this ka tree forest in Sanming and later wrote an article about it after returning to his country, leading to its naming as Geshi Ka.

The Geshi Ka is a rare species of tree, also known as Qinggou Ka, commonly referred to as “red oak.” It is an evergreen tall tree with dense foliage and yellow flowers. Its wood is solid, with fine grain and high resistance to corrosion, making it an excellent material for shipbuilding and high-end furniture. The bark can be used to make tannin extract, while its fruit contains starch, is sweet and edible, and is nicknamed “little chestnut.” This natural ka tree forest has a history of over 200 years, with trees averaging 26 meters in height. The protected area is home to more than 50 species of trees from 34 genera and 24 families, including camphor, nanmu, sassafras, Chinese juniper, Engelhardia roxburghiana, Broussonetia kazinoki, and cinnamon trees, as well as wildlife such as sambar deer, flying squirrels, black bears, pangolins, and birds like silver pheasants and bamboo partridges.

Geshi Ka Forest Park features a resort with a restaurant, guest rooms, and conference rooms. Scattered throughout the ka tree forest are over ten “treehouse villas” (mandarin duck lodges).
