The character "虎" (tiger) on Tiger Head Mountain was originally the character "斧" (axe), as the peak resembles an upright, sharp axe. Later, because the mountain range stretches continuously like a colorful giant tiger, the character was changed to "虎" (tiger) and has been passed down ever since. With its summit at an altitude of 1,102 meters, it is the highest peak in the urban area. "Tiger Peak Herding Clouds" is one of the eight scenic wonders of the city.

Tiger Head Mountain boasts rich vegetation, with dense forests of pine and fir, as well as over two hundred species of trees such as juniper, Chinese tallow tree, sweetgum, rosewood, fragrant flower wood, and tristania conferta. The high mountains and dense woods are naturally home to many birds and animals. Traces of South China tigers have been spotted here, and animals like wild rabbits and bamboo partridges are common. When dawn or sunset paints the valley red, birds such as mountain sparrows, cuckoos, doves, and francolins often sing together, accompanied by the gentle mountain breeze and murmuring streams, creating a moving symphony of the forest.

As the ancients said: "The bones of a mountain lie in its rocks, its charm in its waters, its form in its trees, and its spirit in its steepness, beauty, and height." Judging by these standards, Tiger Head Mountain not only features peculiar peaks, strange rocks, perilous cliffs, deep valleys, cascading waterfalls, flowing springs, misty clouds, and flowering trees—all wonders in their own right—but also includes ancient temples such as Yunfeng Ancient Temple and the Nantianmen Monastery Hall. The natural scenery and religious culture complement each other perfectly.
