The water-based One-Line Sky is one of the most representative scenic spots in the Duanyun Mountain area. Here, the cliffs are steep and precipitous, with two peak walls pressing against each other. When the lake water rises and submerges the mountainside, it forms a deep green, narrow water corridor where only a small boat can squeeze through along the cliff. The five large characters on the left side of the rock wall, “水上一线天” (“One-Line Sky over Water”), were inscribed by Liu Yi, the former head of the National Tourism Administration. Now, as the boat slowly enters, this waterway is only 2 meters wide and over 300 meters long, with cliffs about 100 meters high. Looking up, you can see only a sliver of sky; looking down, there’s just a thread of water.

At the end of the water passage, the view suddenly opens up into a round, deep pool. As you look up, you’ll see cliffs all around and only a patch of blue sky in the middle—doesn’t it feel like looking at the sky from the bottom of a well? Suddenly, everyone becomes a “frog at the bottom of a well.” Among the towering cliffs, there are five prominent stone ridges, known as the “Five Horses Falling into the Trough.” Over here, there’s a rock that resembles a side profile of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. The cliffs are covered with various kinds of plants, including Dendrobium, spider plants, and resurrection grass. Two streams of cascading water pour straight down into the deep pool, creating a crisp, tinkling sound that makes the pool appear even more emerald-green. The air here is fresh, and in summer, you can also fully enjoy the “natural air-conditioning” generously offered by nature.
