Xianrendong National Forest Park is just 1 kilometer from the city government seat. The park is divided into four scenic areas based on its geological features and landscapes: Lovers’ Valley, Pingxi Waterfall, Sightseeing Orchard, and Folk Culture & Leisure Zone, covering a total area of 1,488 hectares. The Flying Dragon Waterfall, Golden Toad Waterfall, Tiger Gate Cliff, and Immortal Altar Stone are the park’s four most famous attractions. Xianrendong Forest Park was promoted to national forest park status in December 2003.

Xianrendong National Forest Park has a forest coverage rate of over 95%, making it the only well-preserved primary secondary forest around the urban mountainous area. It remains lush and green all year round. The park is home to 130 families and 522 species of vascular plants, including first-class nationally protected tree species such as the southern yew and Bretschneidera sinensis (bellflower tree), as well as second-class protected species such as Alsophila spinulosa, ornamental rosewood, camphor tree, Chinese cork oak, longleaf torreya, golden larch, and Fujian cypress. The favorable ecological environment provides a habitat for nationally protected wildlife such as silver pheasants, macaques, pythons, cobras, and pangolins. At the same time, leaping squirrels, colorful butterflies, and a variety of birds bring vitality to the forest, making the park a true “urban backyard garden.”

The geological age of Xianrendong National Forest Park dates back to the Triassic period of the Mesozoic era. Its rock formations consist of Yanshanian granite formed by deep magmatic intrusion. Intense neotectonic movements have created the park’s dramatic peaks, unusual rock formations, and serene valleys. The main peak, Tiger Head Mountain, stands at an elevation of 1,166 meters with a relative height of 971 meters. The annual average precipitation is 1,726.3 millimeters, which not only provides ideal conditions for plant growth but also ensures abundant water sources for the park’s water landscapes. There are 95 major scenic spots throughout the park, including 34 geological and landform attractions, 23 water-related features, 18 biological attractions, 4 celestial phenomena, and 16 cultural and other sites.

Xianrendong National Forest Park features amenities such as a Hundred Trees Garden, a Hundred Bamboo Garden, dining facilities, teahouses, and viewing pavilions (platforms). With convenient transportation and tranquil scenery, the park is rich in negative oxygen ions, making it an ideal destination for urban residents to engage in fitness activities, leisure tourism, family gatherings, and science education.
