The former site of the Yangxi Township Farmers' Association is located within the Yangxi Gospel Church on the old street of Shangjie Village, Yangxi Town, Meilie District. In January 1934, during the Red Army's Eastern Army campaign to capture Shaxian, a detachment of the Eastern Army advanced southward from Shaxian, expanding the red zone into Yangxi Township and setting up camp in the houses of local villagers. The Red Army propagated revolutionary ideals to the masses; they left numerous slogans on the white walls and black brick walls of houses across Yangxi Township, actively mobilizing the people; they helped establish the Yangxi Farmers’ Association, with Deng Rifu as its chairman. After its establishment, the Yangxi Township Farmers’ Association, with the support of the Red Army, led the local populace in cracking down on local landlords and wealthy elites in the Yangxi area, gathering grain and funds, and organizing the collection of medicinal herbs which were transported to the frontline in Shaxian to support the Red Army’s Eastern Army in their efforts to liberate Shaxian. After the Red Army captured Shaxian, the association organized locals to help carry the spoils of war from Shaxian. The Yangxi Township Farmers’ Association also carried out a campaign to encourage enlistment in the Red Army, mobilizing young people to join up and providing valuable reinforcements to the Red Army forces. However, with the failure of the Fifth Encirclement Campaign, activities of the Yangxi Township Farmers’ Association came to an end.

The former site of the Yangxi Township Farmers' Association was originally a Christian church in Yangxi Township, built in 1923. It consists of one Western-style church building and one Chinese-style pastor’s residence, covering a total area of 670 square meters.

Yangxi Town: Yangxi Town is located 12 kilometers from downtown Sanming. It administers eight administrative villages. National Highway 205, the Yingxia Railway, and the Shaxi River all run through the town.
