Beiling

Beiling is a cultural tourism attraction.

Beiling is located at the head of Jishan Village. “A mountain need not be high — with immortals, it becomes famous.” Beiling is renowned not only because the Eight Immortals once visited, but also because the True Immortals Lin and Ma once resided here. Thus, Beiling has been famous both in ancient times and today, well known far and wide.

The scenery of Beiling is exceptional, with numerous scenic spots and historical relics, including flowing springs, cascading waterfalls, ancient vines, old caves, and the Ten Scenic Spots. There are as many as twenty-two cliff inscriptions alone, unlike some newly developed scenic areas that lack cultural depth. The first thing you see upon arriving at Beiling is a stone stele erected by the Yong’an Municipal People’s Government in July 2000, inscribed with the words “Municipal Cultural Heritage Site: Beiling Cliff Inscriptions.” Entering through the stone pillar gateway of the “Beiling Scenic Area,” and walking along the hiking trail uphill, you will soon come across a stone bridge spanning a mountain valley. On the rock face beside the bridge are three large characters carved as “Feihong Bridge,” written by Liu Zhende, a scholar from Jishan. On this side of the bridge, there is a massive boulder split into two halves — one half still standing, the other fallen. Legend has it that the boulder blocked the path, so Lü Dongbin of the Eight Immortals split it with a single sword strike. Judging
