Fujian Yong'an National Geopark

Fujian Yong'an National Geopark is recognized as a National Geopark and a science education base.

Fujian Yong'an National Geopark is located in the central part of Fujian Province and falls under the jurisdiction of Yong'an City in the Sanming region. The park covers an area of approximately 220 km² and mainly consists of two relatively independent areas: the Dahul Stone Forest Park and the Taoyuan Cave.

Yong'an National Geopark is situated at the northeastern end of the Southwest Fujian Depression Zone, where strata from the Cambrian to the Quaternary periods are largely exposed. It features complex geological structures, diverse structural features, and a wealth of geological relics, making it a natural classroom for earth sciences. The park showcases a coexistence of Danxia landforms and karst landforms, each with unique characteristics and high aesthetic value.

After being designated as one of China’s fourth batch of National Geoparks, the park intensified its efforts by developing new geological tourism landscapes and attractions, striving to establish a strong brand for geoscience educational tourism. It invested in the construction of a geopark museum to comprehensively introduce the geological features of the park and disseminate earth science knowledge. The park now supports various scientific research activities, and since its opening, it has welcomed a cumulative total of 2.1 million visitors.
