Cuiyuan Garden

Located on the south side of the riverbank opposite Xiashijishan Village in Yanzhi Subdistrict, Cuiyuan Garden was built in the fourth year of the Shunzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1647) and renovated during the Yongzheng era. The structure faces east and consists of a main building with two courtyards and five bays, covering an area of 219 square meters. Including the courtyard, corridors, wing rooms, and a pond (lotus pond), the total site area is approximately 891 square meters. According to the genealogy map, Cuiyuan Garden features two layers of walls. Upon entering the second gate, there is a half-acre lotus pond with rockeries inside. The overall architectural style of Cuiyuan Garden is unique, exhibiting characteristics of Suzhou-style gardens. During the Anti-Japanese War, the provincial epidemic prevention brigade was stationed here, and an air-raid shelter still remains behind the building. In 2000, it was designated as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the Yong’an Municipal People’s Government.

Yanzhi Subdistrict: Yanzhi Subdistrict is located in the western part of Yong’an City. It is bordered by the Yan River to the east, Hongtian Town to the south, Xiadu Wuliko to the west, and Xiadu Hualong Mountain and Nige Dayankeng to the north, covering a total area of 78 square kilometers. The subdistrict currently has 9,400 households with a total population of about 35,000. It administers four community neighborhood committees and nine administrative villages, with 7,610 mu of arable land and 78,178 mu of forested land, including 12,000 mu of bamboo forest, and a forest coverage rate of 60.6%.
