Keshan Village

Keshan She Ethnic Village is located in the northern part of Qingshui She Ethnic Township, Yong’an City. In June 2007, it was officially designated as an ethnic minority village in accordance with the law. It is one of the more remote villages in Qingshui She Ethnic Township and the only ethnic minority community within the national-level Tianbaoyan Nature Reserve. The area features natural attractions such as a heavenly lake, waterfalls, azalea viewing spots, ancient yew trees over 1,360 years old, and the habitat of the second-largest population of Cabot’s tragopan in Fujian Province and a first-class nationally protected species.

Due to its abundant forestry resources, Keshan She Ethnic Village has attracted farmers from surrounding areas to settle, make a living, and establish roots here. As a result, it is considered an immigrant village, with residents bearing surnames such as Lan, Wei, Jiang, and Huang. During festivals and celebratory occasions, the village becomes particularly lively, with nearly the entire community joining in the festivities regardless of background. This has fostered a warm and hospitable folk culture that transcends gender and has been passed down through generations.

Known for its classic traditional wooden houses, Keshan Village is referred to as the “Little Potala Palace.” The high-altitude “Heavenly Lake” wetland located at Shiba Xing has drawn an increasing number of visitors in recent years. The Heavenly Lake Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,495 meters and is situated within the core area of the Fujian Tianbaoyan National Nature Reserve, where the ecological environment has been actively, consistently, and effectively protected.
