Shuinan Duobao Pagoda

Shuinan Duobao Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Duobao Pagoda: Located on Liyu Mountain, about five li from Shuinan, the Jianyang Duobao Pagoda was built in the 30th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1602). It is an octagonal, seven-story pavilion-style pagoda with a composite structure of stone, brick, and wood. Each story features eight Buddha niches carved with Buddha statues, making it an important symbol of Jianyang County's long cultural history.

In the 23rd year of the Kangxi reign (1684) during the Qing Dynasty, the Duobao Pagoda was destroyed by fire. The stairs were burned, and the pagoda body was struck by lightning, leaving it damaged and incomplete. In 1986, restoration work was carried out, and three hexagonal rest pavilions were built around it, creating a picturesque scene where the towers and pavilions complement each other. Climbing to the top of the pagoda offers an unobstructed view, with the entire scenery of Tancheng laid out before you.

In 2013, Shuinan Duobao Pagoda was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An extension of 20 meters outward from all sides of the pagoda.
