Queli Water Street: 1. Corridor Bridge Over the Waves: The Xi Men Power Station Bridge has been transformed into a corridor bridge in the traditional style of northern Fujian. With its elegant form, the bridge spans gracefully over the water, serving as both a pedestrian walkway and viewing platform. Strolling along it offers a unique scenic view over the water. 2. Clear Stream Quest: Serving as a transitional area before entering the main section of Queli Water Street, this part makes use of the landscape characterized by surrounding mountains and facing water. It constructs meandering boardwalks that follow the stream, drawing inspiration from Zhu Xi’s poem “How can the canal be so clear? Because it has a constant source of fresh water.” The design includes waterside boardwalks, rock carvings along the mountain, long scroll inscriptions on walls, and other elements that create a guiding spatial experience for the water street. 3. Cultural Song Dynasty Alleys: Centered around the waterway, the area features features reminiscent of Song Dynasty markets (streets) and alleys (courtyards), bringing to life historical and cultural elements from the Jianyang region during the Song Dynasty—such as Jian tea, Jian ware, Jian editions of books, and Jian brocade.

Bao Lian Cheng Hui (Treasure Lotus Bearing Radiance): This area uses Bao Lian Square as the core to create a spatial transition into the Zhu Xi Cultural Park of the water street. The square’s ground is paved with granite, with intricately carved lotus patterns in various forms, forming a large-scale ground sculpture known as the “Hundred Lotuses Picture.” This creates a cultural landscape that is both aesthetically pleasing and philosophically meaningful, expressing the idea of “lotuses blooming at every step, each one bearing the radiance.” Attraction one is the Museum of Song Dynasty Culture in Northern Fujian, which centrally displays the brilliance of the Song Dynasty culture in the northern Fujian region. Attraction two is Xian Guan Bridge. The historic “Xian Guan Road” of the Kao Ting Academy has been transformed into a corridor bridge, soaring across the water surface on the south side of the square and connecting to the tour path within the Zhu Xi Cultural Park known as “Xin An Dao.” The bridge is designed to be elegant and transparent, echoing the Ke Xian Bridge at the northernmost end of the tourist area, creating a mutual visual dialogue.

Academy of Neo-Confucianism Sacred Altar: 1. Xin An Source Trace: Xin An was the name of an ancient place in Huizhou and is the ancestral home of Zhu Xi. The influence of Huizhou culture was profound on Zhu Song (Zhu Xi’s father). A reconstructed academy incorporates the spatial relationship of Huizhou villages surrounded by mountains and water, transplanting and reinterpreting its prototype to create a “Xin An Impression” Sinology garden that mimics the village environment of Huizhou. The overall spatial organization centers around the Cloud Shadow Terrace and the Si Yuan Terrace in the middle, guiding visitors to reflect on the origin of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism. 2. Ritual Tribute to Master Wen: Based on the vertical central axis symmetry and the multi-courtyard layout of the Kao Ting Academy, this part creates a large complex of buildings with temple-style ritual functions. The space progresses from the outside inward and from low to high, consisting of an external introductory space, a transitional gate area, an academy lecture hall space, and an indoor ritual space. The buildings follow a strictly aligned axial layout, with each step ascending, visually and psychologically elevating visitors’ reverence for Zhu Xi.
