Tiangong Mountain is a renowned religious tourism destination in western Fujian. As early as the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, a temple was built here where monks and nuns resided to worship the Goddess of Mercy (Guanyin). The temple architecture on Tiangong Mountain is uniquely distinctive, featuring a layout where structures are nestled within the mountain — a “mountain-embracing buildings” formation. The architectural design adapts to the local climate and geographical conditions, using locally sourced materials and incorporating traditional construction techniques of western Fujian folk architecture, which gives it a strong rustic charm and regional character.

The landscapes of Tiangong Mountain Scenic Area are famed for their natural features, including sea of clouds, peculiar peaks, springs and waterfalls, as well as flowers and trees. Hiking and pilgrimage here, wandering through a green forest kingdom, offer the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
