(China, Shanghai – September 9, 2015) On September 9, three major brands under Samsung’s tourism business division—luxury hotel group Shilla Hotels & Resorts, fashion shopping hotspot Shilla Duty Free, and theme park Everland—jointly hosted the 2015 Samsung Tourism Business Brand Promotion Event at Shanghai Zendai Himalayas Center to introduce the latest developments of Samsung’s tourism brands to Chinese travelers. With its diverse and rich travel experiences—from cultural tourism, theme parks, and shopping to island resort getaways—South Korea has become one of the most popular travel destinations among Chinese tourists. Last year, inbound Chinese visitors to South Korea exceeded 6.1 million. The event gathered brand partners, experts in fashion and tourism, as well as media representatives from Shanghai and Beijing, with over 500 guests in attendance.

On the day of the event, Shilla Hotels & Resorts launched its WeChat official account “Shilla” (ID: shillahotel), which will use social media platforms to provide Chinese travelers with the latest news and special offers from the Shilla Hotel Group, fostering more interaction and communication, and striving to become their top choice for accommodation when traveling to South Korea.
As South Korea’s largest theme park, Everland features over 40 amusement rides and a wildlife park home to more than 2,000 animals across 200 species, offering non-stop entertainment performances all year round, making it a highly favored attraction among Chinese tourists. Everland houses two wildlife parks: the “Lost Valley,” where visitors can observe giraffes, elephants, rhinos, zebras, and other wildlife via amphibious vehicles, a world-first in theme parks; and the “Safari World,” where guests can get up close with predators such as lions and white tigers. Notably, as a symbol of friendship between the two countries, the giant pandas gifted by President Xi Jinping to South Korea are set to meet visitors at Everland early next year. Everland is also collaborating with Samsung Electronics to build a cutting-edge IT panda house. In addition, Everland offers world-class recreational facilities including Caribbean Bay, an indoor-outdoor water park; the accommodation facility “Caribbean Bay Resort”; and the public golf course “Glen Ross Golf Club.” It is also adjacent to cultural venues such as the Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art and the Transportation Museum, allowing visitors to enjoy multiple leisure and cultural spots in one trip.
In addition, Samsung Group held a “Find The Moment” symposium, inviting three guests—veteran travel journalist Zhang Jia, popular actress and TV host Chen Yihan, and well-known travel photography blogger Li Lintao—to share their travel experiences and insights about South Korea with the audience.
Li Jong-suk, the spokesperson for Shilla Duty Free, then took the stage to interact with the attendees, creating a highly lively atmosphere.
Finally, popular South Korean boy band SHINee closed the promotion event with a dynamic and fashionable song and dance performance.
