Museum of the History of the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian)

The Museum of the History of the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian) is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Museum of the History of the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian) is located at No. 51, Beihuan West Road, Xinluo District, Longyan City. It is a comprehensive revolutionary museum that fully reflects the revolutionary history of Western Fujian, with an emphasis on highlighting the history of the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian).

The Museum of the History of the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian) covers an area of approximately 25 mu, with a building area of 4,800 square meters. The main building is a pavilion-style structure with ethnic architectural features, and the museum houses twelve exhibition halls. The museum has been open to the public free of charge year-round. Over the past twenty years since its establishment, it has received over one million visitors from home and abroad. It serves as a National Patriotic Education Base for Youth, a Fujian Provincial Patriotic Education Base, and an important window for the spiritual civilization construction of the Western Fujian revolutionary base area. It has been honored with titles such as “National Advanced Collective in the Cultural and Museum System” and “Provincial Advanced Unit of Patriotic Education Bases.”

Development History

In 1984, its planning began upon the proposal of veteran proletarian revolutionaries such as Tan Zhenlin before their passing.

In 1986, the Museum of the Revolutionary History of Western Fujian was officially completed.

In 1989, the Museum of the Revolutionary History of Western Fujian officially opened to the public.

In 2009, the Museum of the Revolutionary History of Western Fujian underwent a major exhibition redesign and surrounding environment renovation.

In May 2009, it was rated as a National Second-Class Museum by the National Cultural Heritage Administration.

In April 2014, the Museum of the Revolutionary History of Western Fujian was renamed the Museum of the History of the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian).

In January 2017, it was awarded the status of a National First-Class Museum.

Exhibition: Red Western Fujian

This exhibition displays the development history of the red revolutionary government in the Western Fujian region.

Exhibition: Deeds of Revolutionary Martyrs of Western Fujian

This exhibition is divided into nine sections. While providing a comprehensive overview of the martyrs of Western Fujian, it highlights the heroic deeds of 121 notable martyrs. Over 100 relics and more than 400 photographs are on display.

Exhibition: Celebrities of the Red Land of Western Fujian

This exhibition showcases figures who emerged from the revolutionary struggles in Western Fujian, including four Party and state leaders such as Deng Zihui, Zhang Dingcheng, Chen Pixian, and Yang Chengwu, 71 founding generals, and over 90 provincial (ministerial or military) level leading cadres.

This exhibition displays the development and changes of the revolutionary conditions of the Central Soviet Area in Fujian.

Deng Zihui Memorial Hall

This memorial hall mainly exhibits the life and deeds of Deng Zihui.

Zhang Dingcheng Memorial Hall

This memorial hall mainly exhibits the life and deeds of Zhang Dingcheng.

Chen Pixian Memorial Hall

The memorial hall mainly exhibits the life and achievements of Chen Pixian.

Yang Chengwu Memorial Hall

The memorial hall mainly exhibits the life and achievements of Yang Chengwu.

Liu Yalou Memorial Hall

The memorial hall mainly exhibits the life and achievements of Liu Yalou.

Collection of Cultural Relics

Marshal Liu Yalou’s Uniform: After the founding of New China, Liu Yalou was awarded the rank of Marshal and appointed as Commander of the Air Force.

Telescope Used by Yang Chengwu: The telescope used by Yang Chengwu during the Battle of Huangtuling in the War of Resistance Against Japan. In this battle, 1,500 Japanese soldiers were killed, including Lieutenant General Abe Norihide, known as the “Flower of Famous Generals.”

Ming Dynasty Longquan Porcelain Vase: Height 16 cm, belly diameter 8.57 cm. A well-preserved porcelain piece from the Ming Dynasty.

Script of the Play “Twin Top Scholars”: A handwritten copy of a Han opera script by Qingrong Shop’s Lu Yu in 1863. The content is complete. It is one of the main scripts of Minxi Han Opera and holds significant importance for the study of Minxi Han Opera.
