The Site of the Hou Tian Uprising — Mars Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province and a classic destination on China’s red tourism routes.
The Site of the Hou Tian Uprising — Mars Ancestral Hall is located in Hou Tian Village, Dongxiao Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City. Originally the ancestral hall of the Chen family, also known as the “Mars Ancestral Hall,” it was built in the late Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 650 square meters, it features a post-and-lintel wooden structure. On March 4, 1928, Luo HuaiSheng, Guo Diren, Deng Zihui, and others from the Provisional County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in Longyan led local farmers in the Hou Tian Uprising, marking the beginning of armed uprisings by peasants in Fujian. It was designated as a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province in 1961.
