The Former Site of the Headquarters of the 4th Regiment, 2nd Detachment of the New Fourth Army — Longquan Primary School is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District and a classic red tourism attraction.

Former Site of the Headquarters of the 4th Regiment, 2nd Detachment of the New Fourth Army — Longquan Primary School

It is located within Longquan Primary School in Longquan Village, Dongxiao Town, Xinluo District. Originally the Longquan Academy, it was built during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. The structure faces south, features an enclosed courtyard layout, and is a tile-roofed single-story building made of earth and wood, with a construction area of 720 square meters. In 1928, it was converted into Longquan National Primary School.

In January 1938, after the establishment of the 2nd Detachment of the New Fourth Army, the headquarters of the 4th Regiment was stationed here. The regiment actively promoted the Party’s policy of the anti-Japanese national united front in Dongxiao, mobilized the masses to join the anti-Japanese salvation movement, and defended the revolutionary achievements of the land reform in the Soviet Area. At the same time, it played a significant role in the resolute struggle against the diehard faction of the Kuomintang. This building is an important historical witness to the formation of the 2nd Detachment of the New Fourth Army.

In 2018, it was designated as a sixth batch county-level cultural relic protection unit by the Xinluo District Government.
