Stone Inscription of “Xinluo’s First Spring”

The stone inscription of “Xinluo’s First Spring” is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District.

The stone inscription of “Xinluo’s First Spring” is located on the north side of Xiajing Lane, Longchuan East Road, Dongcheng Subdistrict, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. It is an underground spring, the time of its initial discovery is unknown. In the 17th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1589), Magistrate Wu Shouzhong inscribed the regular-script stone tablet reading “Xinluo’s First Spring,” and in the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), Zhang Ce’an also inscribed a regular-script stone tablet reading “Xinluo’s First Spring.” In 2001, when the Longyan municipal government constructed the Jiaoxin Square, the original spring site was filled in and relocated 50 meters north to the northern part of the square, covering an area of 21 square meters. Facing south and situated to the north, it is one of Longyan’s famous Eight Scenic Spots, known as “Twin Springs Flowing.” It was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit in 1982.
