Prime Minister's Mound

Prime Minister's Mound is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District.

Prime Minister's Mound is located on Daoling Mountain in Baofeng Administrative Village, Shizhong Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. In the tenth year of the Wanli era during the Ming Dynasty (1582), Cao Yunru, the then magistrate of Longyan, built a stele pavilion here to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the execution of Wen Tianxiang, the Right Prime Minister, who resisted the Yuan Dynasty at this site. The stele remains, but the pavilion has since been destroyed. In 1987, the former Longyan Municipal Government allocated funds to rebuild the stele pavilion at the original site, facing southwest from the northeast. Inside the pavilion there are three stone steles. The main stele bears an inscription in intaglio: “The Great Ming bestowed the posthumous title of Loyal and Heroic upon the late Song Dynasty’s Minor Protector, Guardian of the Nation, Wenyuan Master Wen Tianxiang of Wenshan, who raised righteous troops and stationed his forces at this old mound.” It is made of marble, standing 2.91 meters tall, 1.02 meters wide, and 0.17 meters thick. The left stele is 1.5 meters tall, 0.8 meters wide, and 0.14 meters thick. The right stele is 1.4 meters tall, 0.69 meters wide, and 0.145 meters thick. All bear vertically inscribed cursive poems in intaglio. In 1982, it was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.

Historically, it was one of the major commodity distribution centers between western Fujian (Tingzhou Prefecture, Longyan Prefecture) and southern Fujian (Zhangzhou Prefecture), bustling with merchants and rich in resources. The village covers 2,500 mu of arable land and 10,800 mu of forested land, and is abundant in mineral resources such as coal, limestone, and granite, making it one of the major mining areas in western Fujian.
