Longchi Academy

Longchi Academy is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District.

Longchi Academy was first built in the 26th year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1687) under the direction of then-county magistrate Jiang Zao. In August 1929, Zhu De, Commander of the Fourth Red Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, held the First Workers' and Peasants' Congress and a mass meeting in the academy at Xiaochi District, and established the Lenin Primary School there. It is the best-preserved academy in the urban area. Located at the foot of Qiding Mountain in Wangyang Village, Xiaochi Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province, the academy features a garden-style architectural complex covering an area of 1,480 square meters. It is divided into sections including Jianlong Pool, Kuixing Pavilion, Longchi Pagoda, Hexagonal Pavilion, and Chupan Hall, all constructed with earth and timber, and oriented from east to west. The lower section of the academy consists of a two-courtyard, two-wing-room, and two-annex flat-earth building. Its central axis runs from west to east and includes: the ash-paved courtyard, main gate, front hall, patio, and rear hall. The rear hall has two bays in width, with wing rooms on both sides and side doors leading to the annexes. It features a single-eave hip-and-gable roof, post-and-lintel wooden framework, and green-tiled roofing. Each of the two annexes has a small door that leads to Longchi Pagoda. The entire complex includes five halls and eight rooms. In March 1982, the county-level Longyan Municipal Government designated Longchi Academy as a county-level cultural relic protection unit. It serves not only as an excellent site for patriotic education but also as one of the better-preserved Qing Dynasty academies in Xinluo District.

Wangyang Village: Wangyang Village is located in the central part of Xiaochi Town, adjacent to the Ganlong Railway and just 1 kilometer from National Highway 319. To the east, it borders Laibang Village; to the south, it connects with Shanmei Village; to the west, it neighbors Xinggui Village; and to the north, it adjoins Huangxi Village. The village committee is 0.3 kilometers from the Xiaochi Town government and 18 kilometers from downtown Longyan. To the east of Wangyang Village lies the Longmen Stream, which is 30 meters wide and stretches 1.5 kilometers within the village area. The Longmen Stream is one of the headwaters of the Jiulong River, the second-largest river in Fujian.
