Tongbo Songchi Rock

Tongbo Songchi Rock is a cultural heritage site protected by Xinluo District.

Tongbo Songchi Rock is located within the campus of the Central Primary School in Tongbo Village, Jiangshan Township, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. Originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty, it later collapsed and was rebuilt in the mid-Ming Dynasty. The structure faces southeast and is situated northwest, covering an area of 816 square meters. It features a two-courtyard layout with side rooms, a central hall, and two wing rooms of single-story buildings. The central axis runs from southeast to northwest and includes, in sequence, a gray-paved area, steps, the main gate, the front hall, the courtyard, the central hall, and the rear hall. The rear hall is three bays wide and 8.2 meters deep, with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof and a post-and-lintel wooden frame. A front porch connects the rear hall and the central hall, with side doors on the left and right leading to the two wing rooms. The front hall and rear hall are linked by side corridors on both sides. There is a 1.3-meter-high front section between the rear hall and the central hall, with steps on the left and right. The central hall is a raised platform with a few steps in the center. The rear hall originally enshrined the Three Hall Buddhas, and its ceiling features a caisson design. The front porch has a bell on the left and a drum on the right, with the bell being a relic from the second year of the Tiancheng era of the Southern Tang Dynasty. The main gate has a central opening with one door on each side, and a pair of drum-shaped stone blocks stand in front of the gate. The old site was designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit by the Longyan Municipal People's Government in 1982. Since the reform and opening up, dozens of groups totaling over 120 Taiwanese compatriots and overseas Chinese have visited here to worship, making the site an important link connecting overseas and local kin. In the spring of 1277, Wen Tianxiang once came here to recruit over 200 anti-Yuan volunteers from Jiangshan.
