Tomb of Shi Zhen

The Tomb of Shi Zhen is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District.

The Tomb of Shi Zhen is located at the northern foot of Leigong Pili Mountain, Group 5, Yuantiantang Village, Xiba Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. It faces southwest and covers an area of 247 square meters. This is the joint burial tomb of Shi Zhen (courtesy name Guosui, literary name Pingyan), who served as the northern Fujian defense commander during the Ming Dynasty, and his wife Lady Lin. It is a large-scale phoenix-shaped tomb constructed from lime-soil mixture. The top of the tomb features a four-ring design, with a vertical stele in the center. In front of the stele is an altar, flanked on both sides by four symmetrical lime-soil columns adorned with geometric patterns. In front of the altar lies a central terrace, which connects to a curved front terrace. The third lime-soil column on the left holds a shrine for the Earth God, while the side column features an inlaid stone tablet made of Shoushan stone inscribed with the “Epitaph of Ming Lingwei General Pingyan Shi.” The tomb’s railing is symmetrically decorated with cloud patterns. The tomb was built in the 10th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1582) and was renovated in the 11th year of the Republic of China (1922). In 2001, the Xinluo District government designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit and erected a protection marker on the right side in front of the tomb. This tomb provides physical material for the study of Ming Dynasty tombs within Xiba Town, Xinluo District.
