Former Site of the Soviet Government in Sunai District

The Former Site of the Soviet Government in Sunai District is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District and a classic red tourism attraction.

The Former Site of the Soviet Government in Sunai District is located in the ancestral hall of the Chen family within the Wanyang Village Committee of Suban Township, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. Built in the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty, the structure faces west and is oriented east, featuring two courtyards, side corridors, and a post-and-lintel wooden-frame earthen construction with a flush gable roof. The front hall is five bays wide, while the rear hall is 15 meters long and 20 meters deep. The front hall has an open courtyard that is 15 meters long and 10 meters wide, bringing the total building area to 300 square meters with a traditional three-soil floor. A propaganda slogan reading “Soviet Government of Sunai District” is preserved on the surviving northern wall. This site serves as important physical evidence for the study of the organizational setup of the Soviet government during the local Agrarian Revolutionary period. On May 25, 2016, it was designated as a fourth batch county-level cultural relic protection unit.
