Tomb of Song Lian Xuan Yi

The Tomb of Song Lian Xuan Yi is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District.

Tomb of Song Lian Xuan Yi Lian Xuan Yi, whose birth and death dates are unknown, was named Qian and styled Bojia. He migrated to Longyan during the Qiandao era (1165–1173) of the Song Dynasty and was the founding ancestor of the Lian clan in Shexing Village, Longyan. The tomb of Lian Xuan Yi at Banwei is located at the eastern foot of the ancestral mountain of the Lian family in Banwei Village, Yanshi Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. It faces east and covers an area of 100 square meters. The structure has a phoenix-shaped layout, is 1.5 meters wide, and 2 meters deep, and is built with earth and stone. Atop the turtle-back patterned dome sits a tombstone with a square top, approximately 0.6 meters high and 0.4 meters wide, inscribed in intaglio regular script with the words “Tomb of Lian Gong, Xuan Yi of the Song Dynasty.” The site covers a total area of 120 square meters. Recently constructed tile-lined incense burners and a donation monument for tomb maintenance have been added on both sides of the tomb enclosure. Descendants and close relatives of the tomb owner are spread across Canada, the United States, as well as Southeast Asia and the South Seas archipelagoes, and are paternal cousins of the former chairman of the —— Party. This tomb is not only one of the oldest and best-preserved Song Dynasty tombs in the district, but also an important cultural relic related to Taiwan. It was designated as part of the fifth batch of county-level cultural relic protection units in 2017.

Banwei Village: Banwei Village in Yanshi Town is located to the east of Yanshi. It neighbors villages such as Minci, Libang, Pingyang, and Yikeng within Yanshi, and borders Suban Township to the outside. The area is rich in mineral resources, producing coal and limestone, among others. The village has 206 households and a population of 651, including 327 males and 324 females. There are 31 party members, including 3 females. The local pig farming industry is well-developed. Currently, the village has complete basic facilities, with running water available in every household, as well as mobile phone coverage and broadcasting and television services throughout. The village office includes a recreational space for the elderly to enrich their lives.
