Hecai Tin Hau Temple

Hecai Tin Hau Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinluo District.

Hecai Tin Hau Temple is located in Zhongnan Natural Village, Hecai Village, Dachi Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. It was built by the local residents during the Qing Dynasty and faces east with its back to the west. The building covers an area of 258.98 square meters and is a three-story octagonal earthen and wooden structure. The central axis from east to west consists of a grey-tiled courtyard, steps, the main gate, the front hall, a patio, and the rear hall. The rear hall is a three-story pavilion-style tower with an octagonal eave on the first level. The rear hall is two bays wide and 6.8 meters deep, with a shrine in the center enshrining deities such as Mazu. Below the altar there are bas-reliefs, and the ceiling features painted floral and bird designs. A staircase at the back of the shrine leads to the third floor. The second floor houses a shrine dedicated to the God of Five Grains, while the third floor has a shrine for deities such as the God of Literature. The entire tower is 23 meters tall. In front of the pavilion is a 2.6-meter-long corridor with four pillars, and side rooms on both sides have side doors opening to the outside. The front and rear halls are connected by corridors on both sides, with the rear hall being 1.64 meters higher than the front hall and featuring left and right staircases. This temple is a unique local example of octagonal tower-style architecture, featuring a rigorous layout and exquisite craftsmanship. It provides valuable physical material for the study of local Mazu culture and religious architecture. In 2017, it was designated as a fifth batch county-level cultural relic protection unit.

Hecai Village: Hecai Village in Dachi Town, Xinluo District, is located in the southwestern part of Dachi Town, Xinluo District, approximately 6 kilometers from the town government seat. It borders Xikou Township of Shanghang County and Hugang Township of Yongding County. The village covers a total area of over 52,000 mu, including 11,000 mu of ecological conservation forest, 32,000 mu of mountain forest, and 1,375 mu of arable land. The village currently has 8 villager groups, 252 households, 920 residents, and 32 Party members. In 2011, the village had a fiscal income of 53,000 yuan and a per capita net income of 7,626 yuan for farmers.
