Bengbu Cone Mountain

Introduction: Cone Mountain Forest Park is located in the eastern suburbs of Bengbu City, south of the Hefei-Bengbu Highway. Cone Mountain is the main peak, with the highest elevation at 97 meters and two peaks to the east and west. One theory says the mountain got its name because there was once a naturally formed giant rock on the eastern peak shaped like a cone. Another theory says that the western peak once had a nine-story exquisite pagoda built during the Eastern Han Dynasty, which from afar looked like a cone piercing the sky, thus giving the mountain its name. During the Han Dynasty, Qiyian Temple was built here but was destroyed in wars during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. Although it was repaired several times afterward, it could not be well preserved due to continuous warfare throughout the dynasties. Cone Mountain is covered with lush forests and boasts beautiful scenery. Since ancient times, it has been known for eight major scenic spots and eight minor ones. The eight major sights are the Exquisite Pagoda, Stone House, Dragon-Phoenix Bridge, Ginkgo Tree, Milky Spring, Stone Gate, General’s Platform, and Immortal’s Bed; the eight minor sights are the Flying Rock, Python Rock, Parrot Rock, Tiger Rock, Tower Rock, Lampstand Rock, Stone Jar, and Unintentional Well.
