Hanmo Cultural Park
Hanmo Cultural Park is located on the border of Anhui and Henan provinces, covering an area of 7.85 hectares with a total investment of 160 million yuan. It is a key tourism project in Jieshou City.
The park is a comprehensive ecological cultural industrial park integrating culture, tourism, high-tech agriculture, and commerce. It includes a 16,000-square-meter Cultural Altar (Ten Thousand Buddhas Altar), a 2,000-square-meter rural traditional culture exhibition hall, the Hanmo Culture Exhibition Hall, a cultural activity square, a children's playground, a senior entertainment center, a youth patriotic education base, a green restaurant, and other facilities.
To promote traditional culture and consolidate the Chinese nation’s unyielding spirit and enduring spiritual wealth, with the support of party committees, governments, and cultural departments at all levels, and in accordance with the provincial committee’s decision to comprehensively advance the construction of beautiful countryside, the renowned painter Mr. Yun Jingzi—founder of Red Eagle Painting—along with his disciples, initiated and established the “Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park and China’s First Village of Buddha Painting” in Siying Village, Jieshou City, Anhui Province.
The establishment of the Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park aims to inherit traditional culture, enrich rural cultural life, strengthen grassroots cultural development, and drive regional and surrounding economic and cultural growth.
The Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park and China’s First Village of Buddha Painting are located one kilometer west of Siying Village, Taomiao Town, Jieshou City, Anhui Province, adjacent to Shenqiu in Henan. It is a key hub for the exchange of goods and information along the Anhui-Henan border. The park covers an area of 7.85 hectares, with a planned investment of 70 million yuan.
The Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park includes a 2,400-square-meter green dining area, the Baoxiang Zhuangyuan (Treasure Statue Garden) spanning 9,860 square meters, a 1,200-square-meter special leisure and ecological agriculture exhibition hall, a 2,600-square-meter Cultural Altar, a 1,000-square-meter large conference and exhibition hall, a 700-square-meter youth patriotic education base, a 1,000-square-meter children’s playground, a 700-square-meter senior entertainment center, and a 3,000-square-meter cultural activity square.
By leveraging the cultural industry to drive the development and sales of agricultural and sideline products, the overall level of rural cultural industries will be comprehensively improved. Upon completion, it will become a comprehensive ecological cultural industrial park integrating sightseeing, green dining, public entertainment, and free-range farming, adhering to the investment philosophy of “building one park to enrich the local people,” and making greater contributions to the swift development of beautiful countryside.
Currently, the village’s painting studios have gathered 71 farmer artists whose works mainly focus on Buddha paintings, alongside landscapes, flowers and birds, line drawings, and oil paintings, each forming their own unique style. The painted Buddha statues and other artworks carry a strong local flavor and distinctive regional characteristics. The village produces over 30,000 pieces of artwork annually, with an annual output value exceeding 50 million yuan. Siying Village is well on its way to becoming the true “China’s First Village of Buddha Painting.”
Park Art Exhibition
The Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park and China’s First Village of Buddha Painting successfully hosted their first art exhibition from September 29 to October 5, 2012, at the Jieshou City Cultural Activity Center. The exhibition was jointly organized by the China Contemporary Artists Association, the Zhongguancun Cultural Industry Innovation Promotion Association, the China Nationalities Fine Arts Academy, the Jieshou Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, the Jieshou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, News, and Publication, and the Jieshou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and was hosted by the Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park and China’s First Village of Buddha Painting.
Using the art research platform of the Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park, the exhibition showcased the rich achievements of contemporary Chinese painting art and the cultural development of Jieshou through a series of activities. Attending the exhibition were leaders from central, provincial, municipal, and town governments, leaders from the China Contemporary Artists Association, the Buddhist Association of China, as well as media outlets including CCTV, Xinhua Net, Sina Net, China Calligraphy and Painting News, China Art News, The Beijing News, and China Literature Review. Over ten media organizations gathered in Jieshou to cover the event. The exhibition featured diverse formats, including over a hundred Buddha paintings by Mr. Yun Jingzi (some of which were exhibited at the Second World Buddhist Forum), truly achieving the goal of bringing more artists to the grassroots level, driving innovation and development in rural cultural industries, guiding a new generation of farmers to develop rural culture, and laying a solid foundation for building beautiful countryside.
To drive innovation in rural cultural industries, guide a new generation of farmers in developing rural cultural enterprises, and achieve the goals of beautiful countryside as soon as possible (including ecologically livable villages, prosperous and harmonious living, and civilized and harmonious rural customs), the cultural industry will lead the adjustment of surrounding agricultural planting structures, standardize land transfers, and develop high-tech agriculture integrated with rural cultural development for a modernized beautiful countryside. Based on nearly 2,000 acres of surrounding farmland, the area will be developed into a pollution-free green food base.
Future Plans
1. Leverage local folk characteristics as an advantage to create a national cultural trading market integrating processing and sales (including calligraphy, painting, handicrafts, colored pottery, paper-cutting, folk crafts, etc.)
2. Host two national-level rural farming tools and cultural trade fairs each year (covering agricultural tools, household items, and textiles)
3. Organize two national-level root carving, wood carving, stone, antiques, and curio trade fairs each year
4. Hold two national-level farmer painting art competitions each year
5. Conduct one national-level agricultural planting innovation technology and skills seminar each year
6. Arrange national-level agricultural and sideline product matchmaking and exchange meetings by season
After the implementation of the Hanmo Cultural Art Industrial Park and China’s First Village of Buddha Painting project, improvements in the regional ecological, cultural, and tourism environments will attract more investment, thereby playing a leading role in boosting rural economic development and accumulating social wealth. This will accelerate the transformation of Siying Village into a Central Plains ethnic cultural village. As a high-end cultural industry brand based in Jieshou, influencing the surrounding areas and the nation, the Hanmo Cultural Park will become a unique cultural industry project in Anhui Province and even across China. This marks a new starting point for Jieshou’s cultural development. We firmly believe that with the care and support of leaders at all levels and the joint efforts of industry colleagues, painting and calligraphy art will become a shining jewel of Jieshou, and the cultural industry will forge an even more brilliant future.
