The first batch of Taiwanese flight attendants in China made their debut in Shanghai on the 7th. Among the 24 flight attendants from Spring Airlines, two were flying back to Taiwan on their first morning flight. In October 2014, Spring Airlines recruited flight attendants in Taipei, attracting nearly a thousand applicants for the interview. After multiple rounds of selection, 24 flight attendants (22 women and 2 men) successfully completed 107 days of training and officially debuted at Shanghai Pudong Airport on the morning of the 7th, joining the cabin crew team of Spring Airlines.

Among the 24 flight attendants from Spring Airlines, flight attendant Hsu Shao-ying and flight purser Wang Chun-yi flew their first flight on the 9C8951 route from Shanghai to Taipei. They expressed great excitement and looked forward to meeting Taiwanese passengers onboard.

Hsu Shao-ying, who used to work as a journalist, has long yearned for an unconventional lifestyle and loves traveling. She had previously visited Shanghai for interviews and was left with a good impression, which led her to decide to switch careers and pursue development in Shanghai. She also specifically mentioned that she would feel especially close to Taiwanese passengers if she met them onboard and would introduce Taiwan to mainland Chinese travelers.

Wang Chun-yi, who once worked for Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, has always been interested in the aviation industry and wanted a new life experience, which is why he decided to apply for the position. Reflecting on over three months of training, he said it was challenging at first, as he needed to adapt to the local climate, food, and cultural differences. He also expressed that he felt very lucky to be flying to Taiwan on his first flight.

Xiao Fei, manager of the recruitment department at Spring Airlines’ Human Resources Division, stated that these 24 individuals are not only the first group of Taiwanese flight attendants hired by Spring Airlines, but also the first Taiwanese flight attendants in China’s civil aviation industry. Their salary standards are the same as those for mainland flight attendants.
