Donggang is no longer the only option！ Kaohsiung launches trial direct flights to Xiaoliuqiu during Mother’s Day

The scenic beauty of Xiaoliuqiu in Pingtung is overwhelmingly stunning, and tickets are often hard to come by on holidays. Travelers used to have to go to Donggang first before taking a boat to Xiaoliuqiu. During the Mother’s Day holiday, passenger boat operators have launched a new route from Fengbitou in Kaohsiung to Xiaoliuqiu in Pingtung, making one-day trips to Xiaoliuqiu more convenient.

Ko Shang-yu, acting director of the Kaohsiung City Marine Bureau, said that Kaohsiung has a convenient transportation network. Residents can take the Kaohsiung MRT to Xiaogang Station (R3), then transfer to the Red 2A bus or take a taxi for about 15 minutes to reach Fengbitou Fishing Port. This not only avoids the hassle of traffic jams and queuing, but also saves the commute from Kaohsiung to Pingtung, making it both time-saving and economical.

The Fengbitou to Xiaoliuqiu route is expected to launch fixed sailings in June, with a journey time of about one hour. In the future, it will be operated as a chartered service, with plans for daily round trips during Xiaoliuqiu’s peak tourist season. Also, as there is no ticket booth at Fengbitou Fishing Port, online booking is the main method.
