July 7th Anti-Japanese War Memorial Monument

The July 7th Anti-Japanese War Memorial Monument is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The “July 7th Anti-Japanese War Memorial Monument” is located on the east side of the approach bridge of Yumin Bridge on the north bank of the Shahe River in Jieshou City. A memorial square has been built around the main monument, planted with pine and cypress trees to signify the everlasting memory of the anti-Japanese people's heroes. The inscription on the “July 7th Anti-Japanese War Memorial Monument” was personally written by General Zhang Aiping. The intangible commemorative structures such as the erected monument and inscribed stone are deeply engraved in people’s hearts...

In the spring of 1941, more than 2,500 Japanese invading troops, equipped with heavy weapons such as mountain guns and armored vehicles, invaded Jieshou from north to south. On February 5, upon hearing the news, General He Zhuguo, commander of the 2nd Cavalry Army, immediately dispatched troops to block the enemy at Zhangdaqiao. During the battle, over 200 enemies were killed, including more than 90 Japanese soldiers. Our side also suffered over 90 casualties, with 39 brave soldiers of the 2nd Cavalry Army sacrificing their lives for the country. To commemorate the martyrs who died in the anti-Japanese war, the garrison in Jieshou established the “July 7th Anti-Japanese War Memorial Monument” in 1944. On the eve of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Jieshou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government erected a new monument to ensure everlasting remembrance.
