I. General Information

Anhui Luyang Sanguo New City Provincial Wetland Park is located in the western part of Luyang District, Hefei City, Anhui Province, between Sanguo City Road to the south and the northern shore of Dongpu Reservoir. It stretches from the Nanfei River, the water source inlet of Dongpu Reservoir, in the west to Dongpu Road in the east, covering parts of Shijiangang Township and Dayang Town. The planned total area of the wetland park is 1,171 hectares, with a wetland area of 703 hectares, accounting for 60.03% of the total. Among these, the marsh wetland covers 164.72 hectares, river wetland 57.97 hectares, reservoir and pond wetland 297.85 hectares, freshwater aquaculture farm wetland 170.91 hectares, and irrigation ditch wetland 11.55 hectares.

II. Flora and Fauna Resources

The vascular plants growing in the Luyang Sanguo New City Wetland Park area consist of widely distributed and common species, totaling 86 families, 241 genera, and 331 species. These include 4 families, 4 genera, and 4 species of ferns; 4 families, 6 genera, and 6 species of gymnosperms; and 78 families, 231 genera, and 321 species of angiosperms. The plant communities are mainly composed of three types: terrestrial plant communities, marsh plant communities, and aquatic plant communities. The area’s phytoplankton includes 62 species from 47 genera across 7 phyla, while zooplankton mainly consists of 46 species from 32 genera across three major groups: rotifers, cladocerans, and copepods. The benthic mollusks in the area comprise 11 species from 10 genera and 7 families, and the fish population includes 31 species from 9 families and 5 orders, mostly common and widely distributed species. A total of 87 bird species from 31 families and 14 orders have been recorded in the area, among which the Tundra Swan is a National Second-Class Key Protected Bird, and 25 species are under Local Key Protection in Anhui Province. The area has relatively few species of amphibians, reptiles, and mammals.

III. Hydrology and Climate

Anhui Luyang Sanguo New City Provincial Wetland Park is situated in a northern subtropical humid monsoon climate zone. Its main climatic features are distinct seasons, mild temperatures, abundant sunshine, and moderate rainfall.
