General Xu Shiyou's Building

The site of General Xu Shiyou's Building is located in Baiyun Village, Shipodian Town, Yu'an District, Lu'an City. It was originally the base for the Nanjing Military Region's Unit 802 and the 126th Hospital.

It lies 5 km south of Xianhualing Reservoir in Jinzhai County, only 15 km from the Dushan Revolutionary Site Cluster, and 50 km from downtown Lu'an City. Red tourism routes—Duxian Road and the wartime-preparedness road—Luoxian Road—are adjacent to the base. The area is also crossed by the Hefei-Nanjing Railway and the Nanjing-Xi'an Railway. General Xu Shiyou's Building was initially constructed in early 1966, with the specific building where General Xu lived completed in December 1971. The building complex covers an area of approximately 180,000 square meters, with a construction area of 26,000 square meters.

The base consists of 45 buildings in total, including: 10 general’s villas (villa-style), 8 three-story buildings, 11 two-story buildings, and 16 single-story buildings. The general’s buildings were constructed from block stones and are divided into Type A, Type B, and standard types. There are 2 Type A buildings, each two stories with a basement and passageway, specifically for General Xu Shiyou and his guards; 5 Type B buildings, each two stories; and 3 standard buildings. The cadres’ guesthouse faces south, has three stories, 27 units, and 108 rooms. It features stone walls and pillars, with balconies on the second and third floors. The auditorium has a brick-concrete exterior structure and a reinforced concrete roof, with tiered seating. There are 4 hospital buildings and 4 dormitory buildings. In the northwest part of the building cluster is an artificial reservoir about 20 meters deep, situated between two mountains.

The building cluster is backed by Sanxian Mountain, faces the Xi River, leans against Baima Village on the left, and borders Bao Mountain on the right. Lush forests, winding paths, and a serene environment filled with greenery characterize the area. Along the roads are planted prestigious tree species such as cedar, metasequoia, magnolia, osmanthus, and plane trees. The sea of pines and bamboos complements the various buildings, making it a true paradise and natural oxygen bar.

General Xu Shiyou was a renowned senior commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Born in 1906 in Xujiawa, Macheng, Hubei (now Xin County, Henan), he studied martial arts at the Shaolin Temple in his early years before joining the military, where he once served as a platoon leader in the National Revolutionary Army. He joined the Communist Youth League of China in September 1926 and the Chinese Communist Party in August 1927. In November of the same year, he participated in the Huangma Uprising and subsequently held positions such as platoon leader, company commander, battalion commander, regimental commander, division commander, and army commander in the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Baiyun Village: Baiyun Village is located in the southwest of Shipodian Town, covering a total area of 7.2 square kilometers. It administers 13 villager groups, with a current resident population of 380 households and a total of 1,530 people. Liuxian Road runs through the village, providing convenient transportation. The area enjoys social stability and a peaceful life for its residents.

The village currently has five village officials, thirteen group officials, and thirty-seven Party members. The main crops include rice, tea, and chestnuts. Forestry mainly consists of moso bamboo and garden bamboo.
