The former residence and tomb of Xu Jishen are located in Yu'an District, Lu'an City, dating back to the Republican era and modern times.

In 2019, the former residence and tomb of Xu Jishen were designated as part of the eighth batch of Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units by the People's Government of Anhui Province.

Xu Jishen (1901–1931), courtesy name Jinsheng, originally named Xu Shaozhou with the courtesy name Danru, was a native of Lu'an County. As a child, he attended a private school. In the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), he enrolled in the Civil Engineering Department of the First Provincial Advanced Industrial School of Anhui Province in Anqing, and transferred to the First Provincial Normal School the following year. At that time, under the influence of the May Fourth Movement, Anqing saw the emergence of a number of progressive publications promoting Marxism-Leninism as well as ideas of science and democracy, such as the Anqing Pinglun Bao (Anqing Review), Anhui Quan Sheng Xue Sheng Hui Zhou Kan (Anhui Provincial Student Union Weekly), and Xin Anhui (New Anhui).
