Dongli Base for Military Training of Students at Tianjin Senior High School

The Dongli Base for Military Training of Students at Tianjin Senior High School serves as a science education base, a patriotic education base, and a national defense education base.

The Dongli Base for Military Training of Students at Tianjin Senior High School was established in September 1998. It is located to the east of Huantuo Village on Jinzhou Street, bordered by the Jinzhong River to the north, the Airport Logistics Processing Zone to the south, 13 kilometers from downtown to the west, and 10 kilometers from the Dongli Lake Resort to the east. The base covers an area of over 840 acres, with a construction area of nearly 57,000 square meters. It includes ten functional areas: a professional theoretical teaching zone, a multi-functional sports training field zone, a CS expansion training field zone, a live-fire shooting range zone, a science and technology practice zone for industrial and agricultural studies, an indoor laser shooting simulation zone, and a campus living area. From 2007 to 2009, the base successively built Tianjin’s only anti-drug education exhibition hall, as well as a national defense education exhibition hall and a civil air defense education exhibition hall integrating sound, light, and electricity.

Currently, the base has over 67,000 square meters of training grounds, 11 dormitory buildings for trainees across different camps, capable of accommodating 5,000 people for training and lodging simultaneously. Facilities include a 400-meter obstacle training field, a live-fire shooting range, an individual tactics training field, a laser shooting simulation room, and a battlefield first aid simulation training field, with a total of over 82 types of training equipment across 10 categories. In recent years, the base has also expanded and upgraded its industrial and agricultural science and technology park, adding more projects and content to industrial and agricultural practice activities. It offers more than 10 hands-on courses such as Chinese knot making, woodworking, polymer clay crafting, pastry making, weaving, robotics workshops, digital photography, agricultural specimen preparation, and silk flower art. Additionally, there are five modern ecological agriculture greenhouses cultivating various vegetables and flowers to support students’ agricultural social practice activities.

The base currently has 75 staff members, including 8 professional exhibition hall guides and 12 full-time teachers for military theory, industrial, and agricultural science courses. All 21 full-time instructors are demobilized military personnel. Both the specialized course teachers and instructors have undergone professional training and possess strong theoretical knowledge and technical skills, enabling them to undertake military training and industrial-agricultural social practice teaching tasks for elementary, middle, and high school students.

Adhering to the principles of "high starting point, multiple functions, wide influence, and dual benefits," the base has continuously improved its hardware facilities, strengthened scientific and standardized management, and enhanced faculty development, thereby raising the overall level of education and teaching. It is recognized as a National Defense Education Demonstration Base, a National Science Education Base, an Advanced School for Middle School Civil Air Defense Education during Tianjin’s 11th Five-Year Plan period, and an Advanced Unit in National Defense Education Work. In 2009, it was designated as a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
