The Kejia Village Site

The Kejia Village Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

The Kejia Village Site is located in the suburbs of Fanchang County, Anhui Province.

It flourished during the late Five Dynasties and early Northern Song Dynasty, represented by the Kejiachong Kiln in the southern suburbs of the county and the Luochong Kiln in the western suburbs, but gradually declined after the mid-Northern Song Dynasty. The site mainly produced celadon-white porcelain, with white porcelain as a secondary product. The dragon kiln technique of firing one piece per bowl in an upright position was used, with an early phase involving spur marks. The body of the celadon-white porcelain is pure white and fine-textured, with a lustrous glaze that presents varying hues of blueish-white or whitish-blue. Products include bowls, cups, saucers, teapots, incense burners, and boxes. Their shapes are neat, simple, and elegant, bearing strong regional and period characteristics. High-quality pieces can rival the celadon-white porcelain of Jingdezhen, and the products were widely sold across the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and even exported.
