Xianyu Mountain in Chizhou is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Xianyu Mountain spans the territories of Dongzhi County and Shitai County in Anhui Province, at the junction of Dongzhi, Shitai, and Qimen counties. It is the western range of the Huangshan Mountains. The main peak of Xianyu Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,376 meters, making it the fourth highest peak in southern Anhui. It embodies the natural features of the mountainous landscapes of southern Anhui and the cultural characteristics of Huizhou-style architecture. As the name suggests, Xianyu Mountain is the mountain where immortals dwell — a place inhabited by deities. It was once the site of the rare celestial phenomenon known as the “Seven Fairies Descending to Earth.” Descriptions and images of landscapes often carry a certain degree of deception. Yet the extraordinariness of Xianyu Mountain, its faint yet palpable sense of the mystical, and some of its legendary aspects surpass what existing texts and photos can convey.

Within Dongzhi and Shitai counties, clear boundaries have been drawn for the Xianyu Mountain range. The section within Dongzhi County is called “Jiutian Xianyu” (Nine Heavens Immortal Abode), while the part in Shitai County is directly referred to as “Xianyu Mountain.”

The Xianyu Mountain Scenic Area is an ecotourism destination that combines beautiful natural ecology with a rich ancient cultural heritage. It is home to the Jugen Pass Ancient Huizhou Route, a key national cultural relic protection unit dating back to the Tang Dynasty and still well preserved today. There is also Dashan Selenium-Rich Village, one of the first national agricultural tourism demonstration sites and known as China’s No. 1 Selenium Village. The area boasts the world-unique Seven-Colored Jade Valley, a spectacular canyon, as well as high-altitude historical tea plantations such as the Wuliyin Qing Sightseeing Tea Garden and Tianfang Selenium-Rich Sightseeing Tea Garden, all located over a kilometer above sea level. Xianyu Mountain offers not only colorful natural scenery and pristine ecological surroundings but also a deep-rooted cultural legacy, earning it the title “Land Where Immortals Dwell.”
